Koh Panyee Village Package Tour
Overnight at  Amazing Village on Stilts in Phang Nga Bay

The Koh Panyi is a village made entirely on boats connected by wood.
The concrete structures that are developed recently along with the whole village’s infrastructure
is nothing short of an engineering miracle.

The village was found by 3 families that left Indonesia around 200 years back! The families separated and promised each other
that anyone who would find fishes in abundance would raise a flag to signal the others. One of the families- Toh Baboo, discovered this island
and true to the promise, raised the flag here- giving the island its name that translates to ‘The Flag Island’.
Today the place is home to around 300 families.

The village has its own school, mosque, a health centre, shops, restaurants and even bungalows that are rented out for tourists.

If you love to explore unique places, a visit here will be your day’s highlight!

Buildings stretch out over the water on Koh Panyi’s “floating village” in Phang Nga Bay, Thailand.
Amazing Village

Koh Panyee becomes a more well-known destination. There were plans to erect some resorts to answer the need
of accommodation for tourists, and to help increasing income of local people.

TMB bank have launched a new brand vision "Make THE Difference" by making a film to inspire people to start thinking differently.
With a hope that they will start to Make THE Difference to their own world. It doesn't have to be big, but a little can create positive changes.
This film is based on a true story. In 1986 a football team that lived on a little island in the south of Thailand called "Koh Panyee".
It's a floating village in the middle of the sea that has not an inch of soil. The kids here loved to watch football but had nowhere to play or practice.
But they didn't let that stop them. They challenged the norm and have become a great inspiration for new generations on the island.

The Villagers There are 1,485 people from 315 families who live permanently on Koh Panyee, the youngest being a baby boy born just a month before our visit. All of them are the descendants, directly or indirectly, of Toh Baboo and his family and friends, who were the first people to settle on Koh Panyee some 200 years ago. Toh Baboo and two other families left their homeland in Indonesia by boat, looking for a new place to live. The three families made a vow to each other that if one of them found a place where there were lots of fish and where everyone could live, that they would signal the others by raising a flag on a mountain as high as possible, so that the others could see it and join them. Toh Baboo discovered the island with its abundance of fish and, true to his promise, raised a flag atop its soaring cliff, That is how the island got its name, Koh Panyee.

Village Life

A mosque based on the island adjacent to the settlement serves the predominantly Muslim population and is a focal point and meeting place for the community.
A market stocked with goods from the mainland sells basic amenities such as medicine, clothes and toiletries.

Despite the recent rise in tourism, life in Ko Panyi is still primarily based around the fishing industry as tourists only visit in significant numbers during the dry season.

James Bond Island is a famous landmark in Phang Nga Bay. It first found its way onto the international tourist map through its starring role in the James Bond movie 'The Man with the Golden Gun'. A distinctive feature of this famous bay is the number of sheer limestone cliffs that vertically jut out of the emerald-green water. The bizarre, why-doesn’t-it-fall-over outline of James Bond Island or Koh Tapu (meaning Nail Island in Thai), lies next to the equally well known Koh Ping Ghan (sometime spell ‘Ping Gan’ or ‘Ping Gun’). The entire area surrounding this island is indeed spectacular, but it can get crowded with tourist boats in high season.

Activities

Following are activities tourists could do at Koh Panyee: strolling around the island to watch local peoples lifestyle,
watching sunset at the western port,  and traveling to the nearby attractions and islands.

You can find a boat service from the two bungalows mentioned.  Shopping for souvenir in the local market at Koh Panyee.

Ao Phang Nga Bay Marine National Park
Spanning 154 square miles, Ao Phang Nga Bay Marine National Park comprises a group of more than 40 islands
and spectacular limestone cliffs that can only be reached by boat. One of Thailand’s most popular boat trip excursions,
the park includes well-known destinations like
Koh Panyee, a fishing village where houses are built on stilts over the water; and Ko Kan,
which was the setting for the 1974 James Bond Film, The Man with the Golden Gun.

The park also includes some of the largest
remaining primary mangrove forests in Thailand, which provide shelter for numerous different bird species. There’s also Kao Kien,
where you’ll find cliffs decorated with ancient wildlife paintings dating back thousands of years.
